Rolen was unconscious all day. The Tampico fans hated to see him approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season) in the 7th inning and doubled plating a run in the 9th inning. The Detroit offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings. The victory went to Garland(3-0) who went the distance allowing 5 runs. The loss was charged to Carl Pavano(0-1). He allowed Detroit 8 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings of work. 'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park today,' Rolen said. 'I'm glad I decided to play!'
